2009 Week 42

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalm 103:19 (NIV).

1. Give thanks to God and celebrate his goodness as we count our blessings - how he sustains us day to day, and most of all, for the gift of salvation from sin and eternal life through his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ!

2. Please pray for the October adult Sunday School classes. We have a professor of counselling from Tyndale Seminary as a guest teacher for four weeks. The topic is "Keeping our Balance as Christian Parents in a Multicultural Environment." A key teaching point will be to understand from a biblical perspective what it means to be consistent in outward behaviour and inner attitudes, and how to nurture this in our children.

3. Please continue to pray for our missionaries:- Please pray for R & L as they transition from ministry overseas to settling down in western Canada. Ask the Lord to provide new ministry for them, and also precious time to spend with their grown children and grand-children.- Please pray for CY who is preparing for long-term work in South Asia to begin early in the new year.- Pray for Jamie Mo who has completed a first term of work in Lima, Peru. In her second term, her mission agency is relocating her to Mexico City, where she will get involved in publishing work.

4. Please continue to pray for brothers and sisters among us who are looking for work and/or facing challenging situations and people in the workplace. Pray for endurance and hopefulness for those who are dealing with change, and looking for new work. May the Spirit help them to make decisions concerning their jobs, and perhaps their careers. Ask the Lord to grant guidance and peace as they depend on him.

5. Please pray for the church building project:- The Building Committee is still in discussion with a bank about obtaining a loan and getting a "letter of committment." Please pray for the committee as they negotiate. Ask the Spirit to guide the committee with wisdom to make decisions that reflect God's will for our church. Praise God for good support and results of recent fund-raising events such as the ESC-sponsored Golf Tournament. Pray for upcoming events such as the goods and food bazaar in mid-November.

6. Please pray for brothers and sisters among us who are suffering. Lift up those you know who are sick or suffering before the Lord. Ask for healing and comfort, and practical things such as help from others. Ask the Lord to move any of us to respond and be those helping hands.

7. Please pray for the Ministry Group Member nomination process at our church. Ask the Spirit to lead the nominated members hearts and minds as they decide whether or not to serve in those positions in the new year. Ask the Lord to provide his choice servants so that his household will run smoothly, and our witness to our community and the world will be enhanced.
